The afternoon we had today was like no other! A full-on mugging of the boat by a former heat pod out at the islands. We were first attracted to the islands by flying flukes and soaring pecs slicing through the air, indicating the start of a heat run. As we made our way over pulling up alongside the heat run they began peduncle slapping and pec slapping, throwing water 20ft in the air. They then turned to us and began mugging our boat spy hopping, belly rolling and blowing straight into our overlooking faces. I must have cleaned my camera lens half a dozen times throughout the ordeal. They were so close you could see the fine hairs on their chin as they lifted their heads out of the water spy hopping!!!! More updates next week for our Busselton whale watching tours!
One of our most memorable days yet!
