A Sleepy Encounter: 08.06.24 Morning Tour

Sleepy Humpback Whale

Sleepy Humpback Whales

This mornings tour was a tranquil and picturesque experience, marked by the sleepy demeanour of the humpback whales we encountered.

The relaxed atmosphere was set right from the beginning, as several humpback whales were spotted logging at the surface, seemingly enjoying a peaceful rest.

Playful Bottlenose

As we headed south out of the marina, the calmness of the morning was briefly interrupted by a small pod of Bottlenose dolphins.

These playful creatures made a delightful appearance  at the back of the vessel, disappearing shortly after their short but sweet greeting.

Their lively presence added a touch of excitement to the serene start of the tour.

Boat Surfacing Thrills

As the day progressed, the sleepy ambiance was punctuated by three separate surprises: humpbacks surfacing right next to the boat.

Each of these close encounters was thrilling, allowing us to observe these magnificent creatures up close.

One particularly memorable moment was when a humpback gave a big tail flick before descending into the deep blue.

Leaving us in awe of its power and grace.

Not So Sleepy Now

In addition to the humpbacks, we also spotted a few Common dolphins among our interactions.

These dolphins, with their distinctive white sides and underbelly, provided a contrast to the primarily grey Bottlenose dolphins we had seen earlier.

Their presence added to the diversity of marine life observed during the tour, making the experience even more enriching.

A Calm and Serene Tour

Sleepy behaviour of the whales, combined with the serene weather and the stunning marine life sightings.

Created a relaxed and enjoyable Saturday morning for everyone on board.

The tour was a perfect blend of tranquility and excitement, offering a unique glimpse into the lives of these incredible ocean inhabitants.

It was a cruisy but picturesque morning that left us all with lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for the beauty of the marine world.
