Banged up Bulls and BIG BLUES

We came across a pod of boisterous bulls yesterday! The scarring and scratches along their sides were deep and extensive. Two of the smaller humpbacks were also missing the majority of their dorsal fin! They circled the boat, rising from the depths out of nowhere and surprising the customers with their close and vocal exhales! We came across the same group on our afternoon tour. The surface activity had increased as they surged towards the boat from afar at high speed, dipping and diving beneath the boat and surfacing on the other side! This behaviour had the customers running from side to side with excitement. We were also lucky enough to encounter two BLUE whales on our morning tour! They were still out a lot deeper than where we usually come across these magnificent marine mammals! The pair left a large trail at the surface making it easy to spot where they would rise next! Their 10m high blows made it impossible to miss! Check out the image we got of the two blues surfacing in sync! It was another great day of whale watching in Dunsborough and the weather made the day even more enjoyable. Images by our onboard marine biologist Brodee Elsdon.
