Intrigued, we hasten towards the spectacle, only to discover a large oil slick lingering on the surface.
Though the orca have moved on, their presence is unmistakable, a lingering reminder of their recent feast.
Meeting a Killer Whale Pod: A Glimpse of Orcas in Action
Just as disappointment begins to creep in, our spirits are lifted by the sight of large black dorsal fins emerging from below.
It is Alki’s pod, a gathering of magnificent orcas including Alki, Nani, Billie, Slater, Nicki, and little Moana.
